First, let’s figure out if you want a PORTABLE or DESKTOP unit.
PORTABLE: Portable Vaporizers are exactly that: Portable. These compact and lightweight Vaporizers are made for vapor enthusiasts on the go. Portable Vaporizers can be used almost anywhere and are very simple to operate. Many of these units, like the Iolite WISPR, come in a large variety of colors. They typically use lithium ion batteries, alkaline batteries, flame or butane and some even utilize car chargers/adaptors. Most of these units require no cords or wires. If you are looking to vaporize discreetly, these units are probably your best option.
DESKTOP: Desktop Vaporizers must be plugged into a power outlet. The more common type of vaporizer, these efficient machines are capable of producing vapor by a variety of methods including whip-style, forced-air (balloon bag), dual (forced-air + whip-style) and handheld. Since these machines receive a steady flow of power they are considered to be more efficient and powerful when compared to most portable units. Desktop Vaporizers come in all shapes, colors and sizes. Some of them even feature touch screens for convenient control of the device.
Now that we’ve figured out what type of vaporizer you want, let’s figure out what type of material you want to vaporize – BLENDS, OILS or WAXES.
BLENDS: Blend Vaporizers are capable of vaporizing your favorite dry aromatherapy blends. We recommend using a grinder for the most efficient vaporization process.
OILS/WAXES: Oil/Wax Vaporizers are intended for any type of oil, wax or other concentrate. Some of these Vaporizers feature a cartridge system whereas others utilize an oil dish/bowl.
DUAL (BLENDS, OILS & WAXES): Dual Compatibility Vaporizers are made for everything. These Vaporizers allow you to efficiently vaporize any type of dry blend, oil, wax or other concentrate.
Great. Last thing we need to decide on is the HEAT SOURCE (Portable) or DELIVERY METHOD (Desktop).
HEAT SOURCE: The heat source options for a portable vaporizer include butane, flame/lighter and a battery. Batteries tend to be the most reliable and efficient power/heat source because they provide a steady and consistent flow of energy to the vaporizing device. Butane-powered Vaporizers are great for people on the move because you’re not tied to a power outlet. Flame/lighter Vaporizers are also very convenient, but they tend to be the most inefficient style of vaporizer.
DELIVERY METHOD: The delivery method options for a desktop vaporizer include whip-style, balloon bag (forced-air), dual (forced-air + whip-style) and handheld Vaporizers. Whip-style Vaporizers represent the most common type of vaporizer found today. A “whip” allows the user to inhale vapor through vinyl or silicone tubing by pulling hot air over the blends from the heat source (typically ceramic). Forced-Air Vaporizers utilize an internal fan that propels hot air over your blends, thereby creating a steady stream of vapor that is typically collected in a balloon bag for inhalation. These forced-air units are considered “higher-end” models because of their amazing efficiency and functionality. Dual (forced-air + whip-style) Vaporizers simply offer both delivery options to the user. Handheld Vaporizers are very mobile and can typically be used with your glass hardware.
