Iolite Handheld Vaporizer - Helpful Tips and Techniques
Monday, July 25 2011
One of the more popular portable vaporizers to be released in recent years is the Iolite Vaporizer which is manufactured by Oglesby & Butler in Ireland. The only problem is that a lot of the people picking up these units aren’t familiar with how vaporizers work so they aren’t able to utilize the iolite to its fullest capabilities. Although this unit can be tricky at times, this handheld Vaporizer is still one of the most efficient and portable Vaporizers ever designed. So I’m going to share some tips and tricks to help those that are in need of some iolite assistance. -First thing first is filling up the iolite up with your high quality butane such as Vector or Colibri. Just make sure that you don’t shake up your butane before filling your iolite. If you shake your butane, you will end up mixing the accelerant that is in the can with the butane which will cause too much of the accelerant to end up in your unit. This might make your unit much harder to ignite since the butane in your iolite is now diluted with the accelerant.
-After your iolite is filled with butane, you are going to want to wait around 5 minutes before you attempt to ignite it. While you’re waiting, you will have time to grind up your herbs. You are going to want to grind your herbs up as much as possible without turning them into a powder. And when you fill the chamber up, you don’t want to fill it up all the way (only approximately 2/3 the way) so that the herbs will vaporize evenly leading to a much more effective vaporizing experience.
-Once your iolite is filled with butane and your herbs, you are ready to ignite this bad boy. Simply slide the switch to the right so you hear a slight hissing sound. Then you are going to click the button on the back so you see the little led light on the front turn from blue to red (red meaning it’s heating up). Next, I recommend that you allow the unit to heat up for a few cycles before you use it. This will allow for the herbs to be thoroughly heated and will produce some nice thick vapor clouds.
-Finally comes the time for you to start vaporizing. When you go to take your hit, you are going to want to inhale nice and slowly for about 15 seconds or so. Hitting it in this manner results in a higher temperature leading to thicker vapor which is what we are going for here. If you were to hit it faster, you then will be extracting all the heat at a much faster rate which then leads to the chamber temperature cooling down, not allowing you to get the thick hits you desire.
-In between hits (every 10-15 hits or so) you will want to gently shake up your unit, or simply remove the blend chamber and mouthpiece so you can stir your herbs to allow for the most surface area, leading to better vapor hits.
If you follow the simple steps outlined above, you should have no problem getting the most out of your iolite portable vaporizer and should be able to enjoy your unit for years to come.
