How Temperature Controlled Vaping Changed Eliquid Vaporizers Forever

Temperature Controlled Vaping Explained

Eliquid vaping may seem like the newest trend growing in popularity these past few years, but it has been around for a while--long enough that vaping has seen its own trends come and go. The latest one is temperature control vaping. Many say that this trend revolutionized the world of vaping—making it safer and more convenient. This post will analyze the validity of this statement, exploring what temperature control vaping is and how it is different from previous trends.

What Came Before Temperature Control

The contemporary electronic cigarette may have been an interesting idea in 1927, but the origins of vaping trace back to ancient times. Some trace it back to Herodotus, who detailed in his work The Histories how Egyptians heated herbs and oils on hot stones to inhale the vapors. Others credit Joseph Robinson for dreaming up the first electronic cigarette, while Herbert A. Gilbert is known for coming up with the concept of vaping in general. The first ever e-cig was invented by Hon Lik in the early 2000s, spring boarding the trend of vaping.

Another vaping trend includes the use of custom vape mods. Instead of going to a smoke shop or vape store, people are looking to personally customize their vaporizers to make them one-of-a-kind.

Yet another trend that doesn’t seem like it’ll stop is smokers vaping to kick their habit.

(The growing trend of dripping e-juice onto coils creates denser, flavor-rich hits.)

While temperature control vaping is becoming popular, so is another trend called dripping. This technique involves dripping e-liquid directly onto the coils for thicker, more flavorful clouds. The process could expose the user to a much higher level of nicotine. Temperature control vaping, on the other hand, allows you to vape how you want and more safely.

What is Temperature Control Vaping?

So you’re probably wondering how temperature control vaping works. Well, with ecigarette vaporizers, it really has little to do with temperature because vapes don’t have built-in thermostats or heat sensors. What temperature control actually does is monitor coil resistance as the coil is heated. The slightest change in resistance in the mechanism will either restrict, reduce, or cut off power to reduce damage to the coil. The temperature and resistance of the coil when vaping is important because vaporizers can overheat. When you overheat a coil vape, the wick can burn resulting in a dry hit that is extremely unpleasant. Temperature control will result in less vapor instead of a dry hit so you know you’ll need more juice in a much more pleasant way.

Temperature controlled vaping generally comes in three forms: Precision, presets, and single-temp control.

Temperature control works with only titanium and nickel coils. This is due to the metals’ relationship in regards to resistance and temperature. Each type of metal has a better resistance than the standard vape coils made from Kantha wires (as seen here) and Ni-Chrome wires. As nickel and titanium wires heat up, so do their resistance. To slow down conductivity in coils, vape wicks made out of nickel are wrapped with almost triple the amount of wraps than a standard coil. Vape coils that are titanium are more popular than nickel though because it’s more durable and has fewer wraps. Using a nickel or titanium coil in a vaporizer that is not temperature controlled can be dangerous. So remember to always use titanium and nickel coils with temperature control devices.

How Has Temp Control Changed Vaping?

Never again will you have to experience the absolute horror that is a dry hit. With temperature control vaping, you know when you’re out of juice. It also increases both the life of your battery and the life of your wick thus saving you money in the long run. Vaping is also a relatively new pastime. Though there has been some variation of it throughout history, this is the first time people analyzed it for health reasons and such. Many worry about the health risk that comes with vaping with heated coils. Temperature control limits your exposure to that risk. So you avoid any serious concerns that may arise as more is being discovered about the effects of vaping.

Temperature control vaping doesn’t have to be complicated. Just know that it’s safer and more beneficial than traditional vaping. As more is being found out about vaping, more trends and technology should arise that revolutionize what vaping is.
