Premium Dry Herb Atomizers

Heating chambers provide the temperatures necessary to extract the essentials from your dry herb and concentrates. These are designed to prevent combustion from occurring in your vape pen or portable vaporizer. Heating chambers can be designed for dry herb or more waxy/oily substances. The modular nature of vaporizers allows for easy repair and replacement of parts. If you're looking to restore functionality or add features you'll have no problem finding a compatible piece for your wax pen, vape pen, or portable vaporizer.

How Do Dry Herb Atomizers Work?

Temperature-wise, dry herb will begin to combust at around 400°F, so you can anticipate your dry herb atomizer to operate just below that line. Your dry herb atomizer will normally be made from ceramic (though there are other options). This inert material is one of the most efficient and cleanest ways to vaporize dry herb.

Most standard dry herb atomizers consist of a 510-threaded connector. 510 is the most commonly used threading in portable vapes and pens, meaning the battery/atomizer combinations are plentiful for those who want to experiment with temperatures, wattage, and in some cases airflow control. Compared to wax or e-liquid, dry herbs take significantly more heat to vaporize. When vaping dry herb, it is of the utmost importance to ensure your herb mix is being heated just to the point of combustion, this is done to avoid the release of harmful chemicals as a result of said combustion.

Before using your dry herb atomizer, it is essential to grind up your herb. A fine, even grind is preferred so no pieces stick out and get heated quicker than any other portion of your mix. Having a poker tool on hand will help for clearing your last load of spent dry herb. When it comes to actually loading your herb atomizer, a big chamber allows you to grind directly into the vaporizer. It's important to note that herb vaporizers perform much better when the dry herb is fully dry, since residual moisture produces weaker vapor.

Once you’ve grinded the perfect dry herb mix, it's time to load your vape. First off, remove or unscrew the cover/cap to your chamber. Then if you weren’t able to grind right into your chamber, use your fingers to deftly load your finely ground herb into the dry herb atomizer. With vaporizer heating chambers, it is important to not overfill or pack the herb too tightly, as air still needs to pass through the packed chamber to adequately vaporize every piece of herb. Usually a “medium” pack is best, but the heating method of your vape will dictate what pack is most appropriate. Conduction vaporizers can handle a tighter pack, while convection vapes benefit from a looser pack. Once you’re packed, toss the lid/cover on and close the chamber.

Now that you’re packed up and ready to go it's time to heat your vape. Herb vaporizers can take anywhere from 5 seconds to over a minute to heat up. It is very importance to let your pen heat up before fully taking a hit. A lot of vaporizers have adjustable temperature settings. Lower temps produce more flavorful hits with less throat irritation, while a higher temperature will provide more powerful hits with thick vapor.

After loading and heating, you’re all set to take a draw! Just make sure to double check your battery is fully charged to get consistent performance from your vaporizer.

Dry Herb Atomizer Size

In terms of dry herb atomizers, size matters. Getting the right sized atomizer can make a huge difference in your vape experience. A larger chamber gives you the option of loading a days worth (or more depending on your usage) of dry herb, so you won’t have to empty your atomizer, clean it out, and reload while on the go. A bigger dry herb atomizer is advantageous for cleaning as well, as the large chamber size makes cleaning tools more effective and there are no tiny nooks or crannies to try and get to. A wider chamber size means your dry herb will be spread more evenly inside of your atomizer, which gives it better access to its heat source. A thinner spread and even heating means more efficient extraction, and a better session overall.

Casual dry herb vapers may opt for a more compact chamber size. A smaller dry herb atomizer chamber lends itself to more portability, while saving herb and your vaporizer’s power. Smaller chambers do run the risk of being overpacked, which can damage your dry herb vape. Making sure your dry herb atomizer chamber is properly loaded will help prolong your chamber’s usage and your vape’s health.

Ceramic Dry Herb Atomizers

There is a reason ceramic is the most commonly used material for dry herb atomizers. Ceramic is inert, meaning it won’t add any strange flavors to your herb’s vapor so the taste of your herb will come out in full effect when heated by a ceramic dry herb atomizer. With fast heating times, efficiency, and robust hits ceramic dry herb atomizers are a great “catch all” atomizer. The one downside to a ceramic atomizer is that they can be a little more fragile than their metal counterparts. Overuse, or overheating, can lead to a damaged ceramic dry herb atomizer so caution and patience are key when first trying out a ceramic atomizer, and when cleaning it.

How To Clean A Dry Herb Atomizer

Cleaning your dry herb atomizer is one of the most necessary, and annoying, aspects of owning a vaporizer. Often times this will mean taking your device apart and constantly plucking used up dry herb bits from the inside of the chamber. Finding a device with easy access can make a huge difference in the level of cleaning you can achieve. As you use your vaporizer, it will collect residue and clog up the filter, causing insufficient vapor. Just as a pipe has to be spruced up every now and then, your dry herb atomizer will need to be cleaned to provide clean and healthy vapor. It is recommended that your atomizer is cleaned every 5-8 sessions, or once a week depending on your level of use.

So, what you’ll need to clean your dry herb atomizer is pretty simple. Just some isopropyl alcohol (70% or more solution if possible), a brush, poker, and a few q-tips. Take your atomizer and soak it in the isopropyl alcohol for 5 minutes. After you’ve soaked the atomizer, use your brush (these are usually included with your vaporizer) to clean the atomizer coil and chamber. It is very important to pay attention and be careful during this step so you don’t damage your coil. Once your dry herb atomizer is free of debris, soak it one more time in the isopropyl alcohol and let it air dry, for added “dryness” you can take unused q-tips and swab the inside. Once it’s dry, you’re good to get back to vaping your dry herb.
